In writing these thoughts I wish to refer to the reality of God in every sense, also secularly, as absolute, essence, origin, meaning, depth, purpose, truth; I wish to speak to all those, in and out of churches, including myself, who are waiting or hoping for a sign, an eruption of meaning, an explosion of reality amidst unreality.

It is undeniable that this is a time of noise, in which silence, the retreat into the inner temple of sacred time, is avoided and opposed at all costs also through the action of mysterious techno-political apparatuses.

At the height of noise, of dissolving chaos, it is legitimate to ask ourselves what would an absolute do - an absolute who spoke the language of the absolute and wished to show us the way - if not, himself, incarnating a path of radical silence; a drifting away, a hiding in the negative and in the obscurity of a word that is no longer revealed, but made silent.

Keeping silent, hiding is then perhaps the supreme, most essential and most eloquent way possible in which the absolute asks us to walk the path of a radical immersion into silence.

Nello scrivere questi pensieri voglio riferirmi alla realtà di Dio in ogni senso, anche laicamente, come assoluto, essenza, origine, significato, profondità, scopo, verità, parlando a quanti, dentro e fuori le chiese, compreso me, si aspettano o sperano in un segno, un’irruzione del senso, un'esplosione di realtà nel mezzo dell’irrealtà.

È innegabile che questo sia un tempo di rumore, in cui il silenzio, il ritirarsi nel tempio interiore del tempo sacro vengono evitati ed osteggiati ad ogni costo anche attraverso l’azione di misteriosi apparati tecno-politici.

All’apice del rumore, del caos dissolutivo, è lecito dunque chiedersi cosa farebbe un assoluto che, parlando il linguaggio dell’assoluto, volesse indicarci la strada, se non incarnare egli stesso la via di un radicale silenzio; un sottrarsi, un nascondersi nel negativo e nell’oscurità di una parola non più rivelata, ma taciuta.

Il tacere, il nascondersi è forse dunque il modo supremo, il più essenziale ed eloquente possibile, in cui l’assoluto chiede anche a noi di percorrere la via di una radicale immersione nel silenzio.
